a) Complete the edit of your promotional video, syncing up audio and sound effects to enhance your final video.

Task 3 - Pitch Due 27th Jan - Filming complete 3rd Feb


a) Pre-productions: Plan: 
  • Location report / risk assessment/ shooting schedule for your promotional video.
b) Practice shooting interview – consider lighting and sound quality (2 questions)
c) First draft of audio intro must be complete and uploaded onto the blog.
d) Pitch/ Present video idea to the class – include plan – sound bites, images and interviews. 

You will be pitching your idea to Karol in the afternoon, make sure you have prepared with your group.   
e) Feedback from peers and reflect on pitch idea. Record feedback
f) Film and record audio for your promotional video.

  • Plan your sound into theme that is fit for purpose. 
  • Include evidence of two existing music intros and identify why they are fit for purpose.
  • Identify the legal and ethical considerations when considering interview questions.
  • Identify copyright issues with sound.

Unit 63: Sound in interactive media

The aim of this unit is to introduce learners to the production and use of digital video material with sound for an interactive media product. Learners will investigate how video and sound is used in interactive media products and will examine the technology used to produce and manipulate digital video sequences and sound. Learners will plan and create a video and sound sequence and prepare it for use within an interactive media product.

Assignment brief –
South Thames College requires a new online video promoting the college. You have been asked to create a promotional video, that includes, vox pops, interviews, along with exciting footage of the college that will help promote South Thames. Your video must include an intro theme that is appropriate for the college, you can use garage band to create your intro for the video.  All sound must be recorded separately.

Task 1
a) Research into the different video formats. Understand the purpose of using different video formats?

Karol - Research into the different sound formats – how and where are these used within video technology. Understand the purpose of using different sound output formats?

b) Analogue versus digital, what are the differences, qualities, advantages/disadvantages include examples. 

Karol - Highlight the theory of sound – wavelength, amplitude and frequency
Basics of sound recording e.g. mono, stereo, different formats

c) Identify three different interactive media products and how they have used sound and why are they effective forms of communicating content – include the sound bite on your blog, e.g. Computer games, mobile phone content, trailers and websites. 

d) 500 word essay/ evaluation
Analysis – 1 film clip – how has the sound been used in the scene?  Identify music, sound effects, and dialogue.
