TASK 5 - Due 16th December
Task 5 – Designers Technical Commentary
Using any means
available to you, screen record your desktop and open up your magazine design
work and talk through and demonstrate that you understand how the following
work:
1. Compression and file extensions (what
does this mean?) – psd, ai. Indd, png, jpg, pdf. What are they, why do you use
different extensions?
2. Vector images (what does Vector mean?)
- points, lines, curves, polygons. Explain what they are and how you use them.
3. Bitmap images (what does bitmap mean?)
– image resolution, RGB, CMYK. What is the difference, why would you use one
over the other?
4. Image capture – scanners, digital
cameras, storage. What have you used and
how did you do it?
5. Workflow and use of Software interface including Adobe
Photoshop, Adobe Flash and Joomag
- demonstrate how you create work in different packages and move through
the different software packages.
6. Asset management – file formats, file
naming conventions, saving. Demonstrate
how you manage and organise your assets throughout the design process.
For each of these
you need to highlight your technical knowledge and how you use your
understanding of these areas in your design work.

Task 4 - Due 15th December
Task
4 - Your completed magazine
Through print screens, screen capture and any other methods,
evidence the development, design and testing process of the creation of your
digital magazine. You also need to evidence your use of Adobe Photoshop,
Illustrator, Joomag. Your final magazine must include the following:
1. Front cover
2. Contents page
3. Minimum 3 article
4. Minimum 1 banner adver
5. Original imagery – As
far as possible use a combination of original photography, illustration and
graphic design imagery throughout
6. Elements of appropriate interactivity
which could include: image slideshows, pinch and zoom, animations, hyperlinks,
sound and video and use of 360 imagery
7. Joomag, test your final magazine and share it
